Forest walks around Moncontour close to Le Grand Saule B & BWALKING
is ideally situated in the Vienne region and on the border of Deux Sevres.  The area is surrounded by beautiful forest and riverside walks all of which are sign posted and not extremely harduous. Look for the ‘fiches rando’ in the tourist information offices which will provide you with many walking itineraries.

Moncontour in the Vienne region of Poitou Charentes is surrounded by lakes and rivers all of which are stocked with fish - although a permit is required but easily obtainable from a bar/tabac.
 
PESCALIS, Moncoutant, Deux Sevres is Europes premiere fishing complex for game / fly fishing 24 hours and is around 40 minutes drive from Le Grand Saule Bed and Breakfast Accommodation in Moncontour, Vienne.
 
CYCLING
New Project:  Cycle 120 km along the River Thouet from Beugnon to St Martin de Sanzay : can be completed within the day.
The well known Ligne de Vert is just a short journey.
We have bicycles for loan here at Le Grand Saule chambre d'Hote and also have safe  storage for those wishing to bring there own.
 
GO KARTING
On the road between Loudun and Font Revaud Abbey you will find a great go karting circuit for all ages and also at Migne Auxances near Poitiers

WATER SPORTS:
Moncontour water sports lake offers family friendly swimming and is just a short walk from Le Grand Saule B & BIn the Vienne region LAC MAGNE in MONCONTOUR offers water sports including water skiing.  The lake is open from May through to September and as well as water skiing provides a family beach with excellent swimming facilities.  There is also a childrens play area, mini golf, camping, tennis, auberge and lakeside bar.

Le Grand Saule Chambre d'Hote is ideally situated for golf courses.  There are 20 golf courses around the Poitou Charentes region.  Le Grand Saule Chambre d'Hote is central to many and close by is one of the largest.

AERODROMES
Activities around Moncontour include flying with 2 aerodromes just a short distance from Le Grand Saule B & BLoudun - based outside the village of Veniers near Loudun in the north Vienne and Thouars on the route from St Jouin de Marnes to Thouars in north Deux Sevres. 
Both include activiites such as gliding, flying lessons, tours over the local countryside, model aircraft clubs and hot air ballooning.

SWIMMING POOLS
Almost every large town has a swimming pool.  The local town of Loudun has a summer open air swimming pool and an indoor swimming pool.  Thouars - just 20 minutes from Moncontour - also has a swimming pool.   There is an excellent centre just the other side of Poitiers near Buxerolles with water slides etc.
 
Paint ball sites and adventure parks such as the one at Messais in Deux Sevres and chateaux, the nearest just 10 minutes drive........
