Well what a long time since I was last one here and so much has happened. The Bed and Breakfast continued to be solidly booked right throughout August with people coming from all over the world and all over France. For me personally things were just as busy and trying to tie everything up was a devil of a a job. Way back in July or August I wrote that I had been interviewed on Radio WM with regards to French Tourism and how they could get more Midland people visiting France. Within a matter of a week or so I was also in the local newspaper in the Midlands : Page 1, Page 3 and Page 17 - the page 3 bit wasn't as a pin up! No it was all connected with my mom whose home had closed down in the UK. As a family we knew it was closing and had been looking for another home for her - with little help from Social Services who just provided a list of some 200 homes - no indication of which were appropriate. As a consequence I spent ages phoning around many, our grown children visited several. Howevert before we knew anything Social Services stepped in and moved her without telling us. Uproar is not the word. Where they moved her to was entirely inappropriate - but in the meantime all those in authority responsible for the error went on holiday for a month. We were left to pick up the pieces. You will be glad to hear we have now moved her to a much better home, but the war goes on and I will be back there again in a month to wage this war. Including the fact that for around 3 years they have been making her pay for something she should not have paid for. Well that was the radio, the newspaper and last week we as a Bed and Breakfast were asked if we would like to go on 'Four in a Bed' reality tv - hubby respectfully declined, he hates reality tv. Maybe next time.... |
